HISTORY

City Lake Auto II had humble beginnings on City Lake Road when Coy Clayton purchased the inventory of another local auto shop in the early 1980’s. In the early days, it

was a general auto parts store - hence the original name of “City Lake Auto Parts”. Mr. Clayton was a hard worker and he enjoyed running this auto parts store, which eventually became a repair shop for starters and alternators. Coy was widely known for his strong faith in Christ and he was sure to take advantage of every opportunity to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the customer’s who would stop by the store.

In 1982, Coy’s son-in-law, Bob Heavner, began working at the shop and learned everything he knew about starters and alternators from Coy. They worked together for several years before Bob assumed ownership in the early 1990’s and moved the shop to North Main Street in the city, where it’s been located ever since. Bob carried on the good reputation of the repair shop, sharing his faith and his good sense of humor with each of his customers. He maintained a solid relationship with his customers.

In 2009, Bob was ready to retire and sold the store to his friend, Mike Daniels, who kept Bob on as a part time worker for a while. Mike owned City Lake Auto for six years before selling the shop to its current owner, Bobby Barwick.

Bobby has changed the name of the store from “City Lake Auto Parts,” to “City Lake Auto II”; however, he provides the same reliable service that the original owners were known for and is working diligently to build the business and to be a help to his community.
